A demonstration of loading digital photographs into a Powerbook and then to CD-R recordings was given. A family Thanksgiving photograph was used for the CD-R label. The finished product was loaded back into the Powerbook and projected onto a screen. The results exhibited extraordinary quality. The demo included adjustments in contrast and brightness using Photoshop. Greater contrast or a change in brightness can often greatly improve a photograph as taken. “Red Eyes” can be removed. Several of these operations were performed quickly.Claire also brought in software for label making that she had won. Since the literature was oriented towards Windows, she was surprised that it included a Mac version. Two label templates for a variety of programs were included. All one has to do to create each label is use one of about a dozen different programs and overlay the template. After printing, the label is peeled and attached to the disc using a fixture.
MacWorld was the main topic of further discussion. Claire and I will represent NOCCC. We are anticipating announcement of faster computers and more with CD-RW burners incorporated. Stay tuned for the information we will bring back.
