The Hardware SIG topic for March 4, 2001 was Video Display Monitors. I discussed the criteria for buying CRT and LCD based monitors.

For more detailed information, read my article titled “Video Display Monitor Technology 2001” elsewhere in this issue of the NOCCC Orange Bytes.

The topic for the May 6, 2001 Hardware SIG is Uninterruptable Power Supplies (UPS) and Power Conservation. I will discuss how to buy and use UPS devices. I will also show how to configure Windows so that it will power down devices when not in use.

The 9:30 a.m. session of the Hardware SIG will actually be in Irvine Hall on May 6, 2001. The 2:30 p.m. session will be in Science 109 as always.

I am currently changing Internet service providers. Communication may be disrupted for a while. I hope all goes well and faster!
