By Elise Edgell Come celebrate another year for NOCCC. Have a free slice of cake and meet some old friends and make some new friends. Last year I did not have the opportunity to spend much time at the 30th anniversary celebration. I would love a chance to see all the people that I did not get a chance to say hello to last year. We should really take pride that our NOCCC is still going strong on it's 31st anniversary.Bring your camera to the meeting. Take some digital photos of people or whatever. If you have some that you are proud of, email them to Jim Sanders for possible inclusion in the next copy of the Orange Bytes.
We have a very topical speaker this month, Dovell Bonnett, who is the author of “Online Identity Theft Protection For Dummies - Power LogOn Edition.” Even better, all NOCCC members attending the presentation will receive a FREE copy of the on-line book.
It is very important that you learn how to protect your passwords so that your identity cannot be stolen. Even if you think that this is not a concern for you because you do not keep important information on your computer or that your computer is in your home and nobody else has access to it you are probably wrong. This is a subject that affects all computer users. Dovell has a good solution for protecting passwords.
Many thanks to the members who helped with both the opening and closing of last month's meeting. Please plan on volunteering some time each month to ease the burden on the “official” (Eric Saca) opener and closer. He has been doing a really outstanding job but without the help of other members he will burn out, and we really do not want that to happen.
Just a reminder, elections are coming up. The offices of Secretary and Treasurer still need candidates. If you have some background in doing either job and have the time to attend ONE board meeting a month, please contact Ted Littman. If you have the time and interest but are unsure if you have the necessary background you can contact Ted Littman and discuss it with him. Or contact me at President@noccc.org. If you know of another club member who you feel would be willing and able to do either job again contact Ted Littman.
Remember, this club is run by volunteers. The more volunteers, the less time each volunteer needs to spend on club matters. If we run out of volunteers, there will be no more club even if there are still people willing to pay their yearly dues. I want to attend the 40th Anniversary Party for NOCCC.
See you at the April meeting.
