This design of this book is to teach you all the skills that the typical Excel 97 user needs on the job every day. If you are upgrading or converting to Excel 97 or if you are a spreadsheet beginner, Chapter 1 will get you started fast. Then, the next two chapters present the skills that you need for working the way the best professionals do. In those chapters you will learn:

1. Ten editing skills that will help you work faster.

2. Ten formatting skills that will make your worksheets look better.

3. Nine skills for working with worksheets that are larger than one page.

4. How to work with more than one worksheet in a single workbook.

5. How to create attractive charts and graphs from the data in your worksheets.

You can learn all of the skills that the typical Excel user needs on the job in this one short book. Each skill is presented in a single figure on the right side of a page. The first chapter also includes practice exercises. These exercises don’t just walk you lockstep through the procedure. Instead, they show you the most efficient ways to do functions and encourage you to try new functions.

With this book, you’ll use a skills-based presentation method to learn everything you need to know about Excel in just 81 pages. The result is that you will learn faster and retain more. And when you are done using this book for learning, it becomes the quickest on-the-job reference you will ever use.

The books in Crash Course series are designed for busy people on the job who need to be accomplished PC users, but don’t have time for 4-hour courses or 500-page books.

They also have Crash Courses in WORD 95, WORD 97, Windows 95, Windows NT 4.0, and Excel 95. Each of these books costs $15.00 and is published by Mike Murata Associatesm 2560 West Shaw Lane, Suit 101, Fresno. CA 93711-2765 (209) 275-3335
