The author, Evangelos Petroutsos, is a computer engineer who has worked for several corporations and organizations, including California Institute of Technology and MCI. He has authored and co-authored many programming books, including Mastering Visual Basic 6. Co-author Kevin Hough is an author and consultant specializing in high-level client/server applications written using Visual Basic and SQL Server.
With this book’s emphasis on what is new for Visual Basic 6.0, database programming and n-tier architecture the reader will probably want to install both Visual Basic 6.0 and either SQL Server 6.5 or 7.0 and try out some of the examples in this book.
I highly recommend this book to anyone who wishes to enhance their programming skills and learn to develop Visual Basic in an Enterprise-level environment. This over 1400 page book covers a great number of subjects in general terms and would be a great edition to most Beginning/Intermediate level Visual Basic programmer’s libraries.
