FELiX Pointing Device

by By Jeff Zubricky — Alamo PC, jzubri@poboxes.com - June 16, 2000 at 12:13:04:

The de facto standard pointing device for most computers is the “mouse.” Computer peripheral designers have given us mice, trackballs, and other devices like the GlidePoint. I have just found the product that I think will replace the mouse. It is the FELiX. I have been using it after using a traditional mouse and I have to say I’m hooked! I kissed my mouse goodbye. The FELiX does take a little getting used to, like anything new, but once you get the hang of it you won’t go back.

The FELiX is a revolution in pointing devices, and comes in PC and Mac versions. My FELiX came with software for Windows 95, but I was able to power down my computer, plug in the FELiX and it fired right up, Plug & Play. I installed the software that came with my FELiX, and then I was able to get the third button to work as double click. I spent some time looking over the product in order to evaluate it.

The FELiX operates within a one square inch area, and the cursor will go anywhere on your screen. The cursor will never get lost because it rolled off your screen. You will enjoy the maintenance free design of the FELiX, it is a completely sealed unit. Throw away your mouse pad; the entire unit is self-contained and takes up only six square inches of desk space, a space saver.

The FELiX makes Web browsing a breeze, you will speed through your on-line tasks. I noticed that I was both more productive, and less stressed.

One Problem—I noticed one thing that I would like Altra to address about the FELiX software. If you use the software that comes with the FELiX, and I suggest you install it in order to get the full benefit of your FELiX, your cursors change. You can change your cursors and customize them, but on a reboot of your computer, they default back to the FELiX cursors. This is a minor inconvenience, but one that needs to be looked into. I have passed on this information to Altra.

I would recommend the FELiX to everyone, Desk Top user or Lap Top user. You will enjoy the freedom the FELiX offers, and you don’t have much to lose.

Current offer—If you like FELIX, you simply keep it, and after 30 days Altra will charge your credit card $69.95 (a saving of $50 off the suggested retail price). If, however, you’re not convinced that FELiX is a dramatic improvement over your current pointing device, you use an enclosed Merchandise Return Label to send FELIX back within 30 days. Altra will pay the return postage. Altra won’t charge my credit card for FELiX, and that will be the end of it. Your will be charged on your credit card just $7.95 (non-refundable) for shipping and handling.

Support—One year guarantee
