Club Fund Raising Auction

Featuring:

Adobe Creative Suite 2 Premium for Windows

(MSRP of US$1200).

The premier item for Sunday, April 2 , 2006 will be Adobe Creative Suite 2 Premium for Windows with an MSRP of $1200.

Most items will have a starting minimum bid based on the MSRP. Each item will have its own bid sheet with an item description, starting bid, and minmum bid increment. This will be followed by multiple lines for your signature and bid.

The bidding will close at 12:30 p.m. The last and highest bid on the list claims the item. The bidding is open to the public.  The winner will be announced at the beginning of the Main Meeting.  Major items must be claimed before 12:35 p.m.  Payment We will accept cash, check, or credit card (MasterCard or Visa).

You can help your club by spreading the word to your friends, co-workers, favorite chat room, anyone you meet anywhere!

Computer Essentials SIG New SIG leader. Elise Edgell has volunteered to bring clarity to the uninitiated. Her tremendous experience and understanding of educational needs will help her show beginners the basics.

Computer Essentials SIG

The Computer Essentials SIG (special interest group) will introduce you to the world of computing. You’ll learn to sit, crawl, stand, walk, and run a computer with confidence. You’ll start at the beginning, continue until you reach the end, and, then, stop.

Each monthly session will introduce the essentials of using a computer. Over the course of our meetings, you’ll learn the correct way to use a mouse and keyboard, text editing, word processing, file management, anti-virus scanners, spreadsheets, taking care of you computer, fonts, web browsing, newsgroups (UseNet), printing, scanning, file formats, and much more.

Please e-mail computeressentialssig@noccc.org if you plan to attend. Please include a little information about yourself, such as your computer experience, what kind of computer you use, what operating system you use, and any other information that might be of interest to you. Tell your friends, too!

John Dvorak Speaks!

John Dvorak is a columnist (PC Magazine), author, and leading industry expert. He will help us celebrate 30 years of technology.

"Dvorak writes for various publications, including PC Magazine (two separate columns since 1986), Marketwatch, BUG Magazine (Croatia), and Info Exame (Brazil). Dvorak has been a columnist for Boardwatch Magazine, Forbes, Forbes Online, MacUser, MicroTimes, PC/Computing, Barron's Magazine, Smart Business, and Vancouver Sun. (The MicroTimes column ran under the banner Dvorak's Last Column.)"

"Dvorak was on the start-up team for CNET Networks, appearing on the television show CNET Central. He also hosted a radio show called Real Computing on NPR, as well as a television show on TechTV called Silicon Spin. He now appears on Marketwatch TV and is a regular panelist on This Week in Tech, a podcast audio program hosted by Leo Laporte and featuring other former TechTV hosts such as Patrick Norton and Kevin Rose. As of December 2005, that "TWiTcast" regularly ranks among the top 5 at Apple's iTunes Music Store. Dvorak's latest podcast is a similar co-hosted technology discussion program called "Triangulation". In March 2006, Dvorak started a new show called Cranky Geeks"
