NOCCC
Electronic Waste Collection Day

The use and abuse of personal computers has created a tremendous problem. How is computer equipment to be properly disposed so that the hazardous substances (such as lead, nickel, mercury, beryllium, cadmium, chromium, and zinc) do not contaminate the environment?

NOCCC has the solution!
For one day, we will give members an opportunity to safely recycle their useless equipment.
Products may include televisions, monitors (CRT, LCD, and plasma), laptop computers, PDAs, VCRs, printers, cell phones, desktop computers, calculators, and audio-video equipment. Each item must be in a safe to handle condition (no broken glass, no foreign toxic chemicals, no dangerous condition).

Bring these items to the Sunday meeting (from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.). Go to the Chapman University Hashinger Science Center parking lot.
Not all items are acceptable. Talk to the NOCCC volunteers about what items will be taken. Do not leave any items in the parking lot unless instructed to do so.
NOCCC reserves the right to refuse any and all items.

General Meeting
Main Meeting (2:00 p.m. in Irvine Auditorium)
Top 10 Ways to Protect your Computer
We use our computers today to do a wide variety of important tasks from communicating with family and friends to keeping track of our finances and many other purposes. If our computers stopped working today, most of us would miss their use in doing all of these things in our daily lives. There are certain things that all of us should be doing with our computers to protect them from damage and crashes. This preventive medicine is needed in order to keep our computers running smoothly without problems. We will identify in this presentation the 10 most important things that each of us needs to do to keep our computer healthy and running well. Knowing what these items are can help you to better maintain your computer in a good working condition. Take a few precautions ahead of time and avoid the pain of a major problem later. Don't miss this important presentation.

Gene Barlow is one of the most widely recognized presenter at user group meetings. He has presented to user groups regularly for over 25 years. He provides important technical information about your computer in a way that all can understand. He is a skilled presenter, is interesting, and easy to understand and listen to. Everyone will learn by attending his presentations.
